After creating our storyboard we
created an animatic of real photograph stills. We shot these photographs in the
exact way we had imagined and drew out on our story board. Doing this allowed
us to create a sense of our idea for the very first time. It also gave a sense
of atmosphere. We managed to connote the genre using sound effects and
music.
Creating an animatic was useful for pre-production as it was the first time we were able to express our idea and see what worked well in video form. It gave a clear indication that the CCTV shots had potential in working and gave us hope that our idea could be successful. We were glad to see that our chosen sound effects worked well and created a sense of genre and atmosphere. The animatic allowed us to note problems such as music, length of shots, continuity, understanding, and awkward atmosphere. We were able to fix this by altering shots on our story board and deciding on different ideas.
